A hideaway of a very special kind is located in the Franschhoek vineyards.

La Residence captivates with the charm of a classic country house. The character of this grand estate bears distinctive European features. The architecture is reminiscent of country houses in Provence.
Surrounded picturesquely by fragrant lavender bushes, this magnificent estate is located in the private wine and olive estate of Domaine des Anges. With its clipped hedges and romantic fountains, the garden also calls French origins to mind.

You reach the entrance hall, the lounge of this country house, through large glass doors. The tall, open two-storey room fascinates with its rustic ceiling construction and unique décor.

The fantastic interior decoration reflects the luxury of bygone eras: quality French antiques, valuable Persian carpets and exquisite objets d'art from all over the world have been skilfully combined.

Together with the delicate colours and the sunlight streaming in, the personal arrangement creates a pleasantly warm atmosphere. You can look out onto the splendid gardens from the large bow and casement windows.

The suites with their luxurious furnishings are also fascinating. The solid wooden chest of drawers with its gently curving shapes is a relic from the olden days. Asian porcelain lamps illuminate the stylish ambience.
A maximum of comfort can be enjoyed in the Franschhoek Suite with an adjacent living room and private terrace. The luxurious four-poster bed overlooking the Franschhoek vineyards is a real gem.

A bit of Biedermeier, a bit of Renaissance, in-between, a Japanese folding screen - this is how the bathroom of the Franschhoek Suite reveals itself.

Your head lying softly on soft down. The warm light of auspicious Asian bedside lamps shining down on the book you're reading. A Japanese rider guarding the bed - you'll love to fall gently asleep and dream like this.
You can enjoy quite individually arranged interior decoration in the four ground-floor Courtyard Suites, too.

The suite with a white four-poster bed and matching bureau has a dainty and romantic look. You can see the sunny garden through the large windows that reach to the floor.

The look of the suite on the right is one of austere elegance. Here, clear lines and Japanese lacquer furniture dominate the exclusive interior.

Blue floral patterns decorate the wing chair and the bedcover. An old Asian wardrobe tells stories from China.

There's an abundance of variation in the bathroom, too. Here, reduced forms reflect the elegant and restrained charm of the furnishings. Clear lines dominate the exclusive design. The unique shape of the washbasins is also eye-catching.
From above, the eye wanders down into the expanse of the lounge that is open on many sides. Here you can enjoy delicious canapés and exotic cocktails. Both are served with pleasure in the early evening hours.

Warm sunbeams lead out into the inner courtyard densely covered in vines. La Residence surprises you again and again with new angles, inside as well as outside.

The eye wanders out onto the near-by vineyards. The arches of the colonnade are also densely covered in vine leaves. Wine-growing is traditional: The first grapevines were planted in Franschhoek as early as the end of the 17th century. Numerous wine-growing estates in the valley are open for delicious wine-tasting.
The sunny patio is an oasis in itself. It's marvellous to relax by the large pool and enjoy the fine scents of lavender.

The very beautiful residence is an ideal point of departure for long walks into the spectacular countryside close by. Horse-lovers can go on magnificent rides here. And Cape Town, the fascinating metropolis, is only about an hour's drive away, too.
Not only holiday-makers are guests in this grand country house right by the lake. Numerous types of waterfowl also enjoy the quiet and the pleasures of these enchanting surroundings.
